garnet-server, Microsoft's RESP (Redis-alike) server built on the "FASTER" tech is now available as a .NET global tool, making it one line to install it, then just "garnet-server" to run it. Very nice for RESP geeks: nuget.org/packages/garnet-se…

At #VLDB2024, check our Bf-Tree, our high-perf B-Tree design optimized for small key-values. It uses a mini-page abstraction to cache reads/writes and a variable-length buffer pool to maintain them. See vldb.org/pvldb/vol17/p3442-h… and attend session C3 at 3:30pm today to learn more!

Damn, Garnet sitting on top of performance benchmarks when compared to Redis, KeyDb and Dragonfly ... If this doesn't scream Microsoft is dead serious about performance of .Net Core, I don't know what does. microsoft.com/en-us/research…

Hi everyone, I'm excited to announce that the Garnet research project is now open source! Garnet is our new cache-store that offers very high performance and adopts the popular RESP wire protocol of Redis. Check it out at github.com/microsoft/garnet and see our blog post quoted here.
Garnet is a cache-store system that addresses growing demand for data storage to support interactive web applications and services. Offering several advantages over legacy cache-stores, Garnet is now available as an open-source download. msft.it/6011cmThz

Martin was a great database researcher and kind person. This is a big loss. He was knighted by the Dutch govt last year for his DB game. So when he gave a @CMUDB talk I hired a Dutch person to make a fake royal intro for him. Martin's reaction sums up my relationship with him.

In 2018, we introduced an epoch framework in FASTER to make it easier to write thread-scalable systems. At DaMoN '22 we present EPVS, an epoch-based primitive to create "almost latch free" data structures: badrish.net/papers/epvs-damo… aka.ms/epvs cc @tianyu_li_ @samrmadden
