O nafs, stand firm and be straight, or I shall force you to order and constrain you to the path.
O nafs, why do you crave comfort, when you know that such comfort is but the planting of seeds for future agony, fatigue, and regret?
O nafs, why are you enamored with the fleeting, immediate present? Do you not yearn for the Garden?
O nafs, why is your patience so thin, when it is but a patience of an hour? Will you not endure for the piety of your Lord, or have you decided that you would rather endure the Fire?
O nafs, why do you heed the warning for but a moment, only to fall back into a lifetime of neglect?
O nafs, why do I see you dragging us toward destruction? Do you not fear for yourself?
O nafs, be a help to me, and cease aiding Shaytan, the dunya, and my own base desires, their enmity against me is already enough to bear.
Woe to you, O nafs, do you not realize that this life is but the blinking of an eye, from which you shall awaken only to find death?
O nafs, purify yourself so that we may prosper, or would you prefer that I be brought to ruin by your corruption?
O nafs, be not deceived by the wreckage of this dunya, for the ultimate goal is a Garden as wide as the heavens and the earth, and the pleasure of the Most Merciful.
So be patient, O nafs. Endure, persist, and strive. For tomorrow, ุฅู ุดุงุก ุงููู, we shall hear the promise: "Peace be upon you for what you patiently endured, and excellent is the final home."
