This is unlike any sports science book you've ever read, because it's much more than a sports science book. I hope you have fun reading about the culture and humans behind the Norwegian method, and learn a bit of sports science along the way.

The Enhanced Games are just a ploy to sell peptides to stupid people by a couple of billionaires using a bunch of JV athletes who never came to terms with their own mediocrity. It is going to be a colossal failure; I can't wait.

I'd be a 2:30 marathoner if this stuff made a comeback.

If you're having a bad week just remember that you're living through the golden age of running shoes and everything will be fine.

For the past month I've been working on hip mobility with a dance instructor with 40 years experience. My easy runs are easier, my tempo runs have more tempo, my long runs are longer. If you're a runner who thinks stretching is stupid, perhaps you've been stretching stupidly.

It pains me to say this, but @bbculp you’re a good d*mn writer. Sitting in airport without a strong wifi signal and this is a fun read.

Wish I could go back and tell my 20-year-old self—who was running in Newtons—that everything will be OK and these shoe designers will figure it out.

This book ends with her dad refusing to buy her Alpha Flys so she drops out at mile 18 of the LA marathon but still gets a medal.

The hardest concept for runners to grasp is standing tall while leaning forward. The hardest concept for swimmers to grasp is swimming downhill with the hips riding high. The hardest concept for cyclists to grasp is not being insufferable.
