Glad BC is signing more marketing deals. Strange reason for a cage press release. Also -- and not to be "that guy" -- but I think BC had a deal with Baybank in the early '90s. I am going to have to go back and look at old pics, but I am pretty sure there was signage in Conte.
I interned at WEEI in the '90s and mostly worked for Dale and Eddie. Eddie was a character, but nice to the interns. Didn't care about BC sports, but certainly was a pioneer in the format.
Eddie Andelman, best known for his founding role in “The Sports Huddle," and who pioneered sports talk radio in Boston in the early 1970s, has died. trib.al/saeHx6y
The demographic cliff is here.
Syracuse offered students significant discounts to attend but still ended up under-enrolled.
The university has already offered buyouts to 175 professors and closed 93 majors.
And the pop. of 18-year-olds “will decline for the next 15 years.”
We scraped every Division I athletic department staff directory and analyzed 68,000 employee records across 368 schools.
A few findings:
• SEC football programs average 66 staff members
• Georgia has 120 people dedicated to football alone
• Ohio State, Georgia, and LSU each have 155 AD-level administrators
• SEC schools average 26 fundraising staff members compared to 10 in the Big 12
The college athletics arms race isn't just about NIL, revenue sharing, or facilities.
It's about people.

SEC and Big Ten spent millions and years of time lobbying (begging) Congress for help.
Bipartisan, compromise bill comes back and … they oppose it.
We’ll see what they do on working to “improve” it.
Without Congressional action, Notre Dame AD Pete Bevacqua says a "super league" is inevitable.
"You’re going to only have a small number of universities who can invest to field a nationally competitive football team."
1. Since everyone is chiming in...Al was treated poorly. Gene putting himself in the Hall and using the media against Al tells it all. Donahue's first team made NIT. If Al had returned, he would have made the tourney (Heslip would have been on that team). CONTD.
Al Skinner led BC basketball to unprecedented success in the 2000s but was abruptly fired. He wants no part of the school’s Hall of Fame until
he receives an explanation of his removal. bostonglobe.com/2026/06/03/s… via @BostonGlobe
4. Kudos to @MartinJarmond for trying to mend fences with Al. I hope there is still time. He belongs in the Hall and should be celebrated. Also, very rich for the Globe to publish an article about the Boston Media hit pieces, which the Globe pioneered.
5. As much as I would like to blame Gene for our current issues, his destructive moves hurt but are not the reason we've been bad of late. Multiple ADs and multiple coaches had a chance. I believe in Murray and think good times are ahead. Let's hope they include Al Skinner.
Good regular season but really bad postseason. Had double bye in @theACC and lost first game. Then getting bounced by Liberty twice in NCAAs. Season over. #JustWin ⚾️
Outstanding bounce back from @BCBirdBall! Imagine: picked dead last in the ACC to winning an NCAA tournament game! They’ve rescued our sports season. Big ones the last two days from @aj_cola14 and @tylermudd17!
As I wrote in my column a couple weeks ago, if the NCAA thinks they are mitigating lawsuits with their new rules, they are sadly delusional. There are going to be a deluge of hockey player lawsuits.
