Between an unexpected venue change, the event software crashing, and a few other hiccups, we’re still so grateful for the amazing presenters, c. 200 in-person attendees, c. 400 online attendees, student helpers, and all the folks who helped bring the Fall conference together.

We appologize for any difficulty being experienced by our online conference attendees. At this point we are being told the network connection is down across all PSAs. We are working to restore the connection as quickly as possible.

BC has declared a drought-related state of emergency. gov.bc.ca/gov/content/drough… Biome shifting in BC will not be gradual, but rather marked by dramatic episodes: storms & floods, drought & fires. We need revisions across the #bced curriculum to elevate Climate Education.

Great lesson hook for #bced Social Studies teachers. Put image on screen when students arrive. When they’re settled, follow with a couple of news clips on fires in Western Canada and start asking questions. Establish context, explore cause & consequence, consider responses etc.
Extreme and prolonged hot and dry conditions in Canada are setting records and making it effortless for wildfires to rage. Canada was at the epicenter of the most significant heat anomaly on the planet in May.
