Congrats! @Autodesk has entered a definitive agreement to acquire @MaintainX for ~$3.6B. We first backed @CTurlica & @dozoisch in 2021, then continued to invest in their next rounds including again leading their $150M Series D. Turns out they were building the connective layer for all of physical industry. Autodesk saw it too. Congrats to an exceptional team. This is the start, not the finish. @BessemerVP @silicon_samuel prnewswire.com/news-releases…

I looked into the U.S. Navy's Corsair drone boat that just rescued two American pilots in the Strait of Hormuz, and the engineering is remarkable. Built by Texas-based Saronic Technologies, the Corsair is a 24-foot autonomous surface vessel powered by AI. It hits 40 mph, carries 1,000 pounds of payload, and can sail more than 1,000 miles without a human aboard. Each unit costs roughly $1 million to produce, which is a fraction of what comparable manned naval assets cost. The platform runs on Saronic's autonomy stack, which fuses real-time sensor data, computer vision, and AI decision-making to navigate, identify targets, and execute mission objectives without remote piloting. It's part of the Navy's Task Force 59, the unit dedicated to AI-powered unmanned vessels operating in the Middle East. Saronic stood this up in 12 months from prototype to production. The company is on track to build more than 20 vessels per year by 2027. This is what American AI looks like in the field. 🇺🇸

Insightful work and let’s just say this is part of the logic for why we were excited to invest, again, in @AnthropicAI ‘s latest round!
The Rule of X introduced by @BessemerVP explains roughly 50–60% of a public software company’s revenue multiple. I was curious how SpaceX, OpenAI and Anthropic would map onto it. All three are priced like the best public names — and SpaceX trades at a premium of roughly 200–300%. Makes sense if valued as a vertically integrated venture bet — launch → Starlink → AI compute — rather than a typical public company. Essentially, SpaceX is valued like an early-stage startup, but starting from a $20B revenue base. The Rule of (Space)X

Incredibly cool to hear about the involvement of @Saronic's Corsair unmanned surface vessel in the search & rescue operation for the downed Apache crew in the Strait of Hormuz. This is the way.

Today I'm publishing a new essay, Policy on the AI Exponential. AI is progressing extremely fast—much faster than the policy process was built to handle. The essay lays out where I think the technology is now, and the action needed to close the gap: darioamodei.com/post/policy-…

The Iranian regime took down two American servicemembers in an American Apache. They were rescued in a first-of-its kind mission by an unmanned surface vessel from Austin-based Saronic Technologies. I saw this technology firsthand in Texas. This is why America should lead in autonomous maritime innovation. Extraordinary heroism by our servicemen & extraordinary technology employed to rescue them. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

When we first invested in @AnthropicAI (back in Spring '24 /series D), the valuation looked aggressive to a lot of people. Here's a look back at the investment thesis: bvp.com/news/why-we-invested… @DarioAmodei , @DanielaAmodei , and this team didn't just execute the thesis. They crushed it. $965B valuation. >$47B run-rate. A true once-in-a-generation company. Honored to partner with you on this journey.
We've raised $65 billion in Series H funding at a $965 billion post-money valuation, led by @AltimeterCap, Dragoneer, @Greenoaks, and @sequoia. This investment will help us advance our research and expand our capacity to meet growing demand for Claude.

Awesome conviction and leadership here, team @MenloVentures & @mmurph ! Appreciative of the continued partnership on this rocketship!
We are thrilled to celebrate @Anthropic's $65B Series H at a $965B post-money valuation. Anthropic is Menlo's single largest and highest-conviction investment in our 50-year history — and it's not even close. This round marks our largest single investment in any round since our partnership began. Our relationship with @AnthropicAI, goes way back: → Invested in their Series C, 2023 — PRE-launch, PRE-revenue → Led their Series D, 2024 → Significant backers in every round since → And in July 2024, co-launched the $100M Anthology Fund with them to seed the next generation of AI-native companies Three years into this partnership, we continue to be blown away by everything they've built. $47B run-rate revenue. 40% enterprise LLM market share. Claude Opus 4.8 launching today. Web traffic from 16M → 290M monthly visits in 13 months. Enterprise AI and consumer AI. Both. Congratulations to @DarioAmodei, @DanielaAmodei. and the entire Anthropic team. You are building one of the most important companies of our generation.
