The holidays are over, but holiday beverages don't have to be. There is absolutely no good reason to leave eggnog, coquito, and wassail behind in 2020. We need all the help we can get this year.
Please take this into consideration.
Thinking "Amen" is "A man" is funny, but y'all, I have to confess...throughout my childhood, in numerous Christmas programs and church meetings, I belted out "ROUND YOUNG VIRGIN" at the top of my lungs during Silent Night, because I thought it was a physical description of Mary.
Excited to announce that I'll be doing a virtual tour for Concrete Rose in January. I'll get a chance to talk all things Maverick with some of my favorite people, including @russellhornsby, who did a phenomenal performance in The Hate U Give, and Dion Graham, the audiobook actor.
I have a new book called BUSTER coming out in March! It's about a young boy with anxiety close to giving up on himself and a service dog who breaks all the rules to make sure he doesn't.
I hope you'll preorder a copy from your local indie, or from mine:

Just got a phone call that was a recording of someone aggressively singing opera, but the call quality was so bad I couldn't make out any of the words except for, "Do your part!!"
(90% sure it was a political call, since I've received five of them in the past two hours.)
I've seen half a dozen advertisements for 2021 planners in the past hour, and I feel like the algorithms are more optimistic about the next few months than the rest of us are at this point.
Certain people last month: "COVID is a hoax that will be over after the election, so we don't need to take precautions."
The exact same people this month: "The virus is so widespread that it's inevitable we'll all get it anyway, so we don't need to take precautions.
How do you make this mental shift so quickly without feeling some degree of self-loathing?
I still worry about misconceptions I had in the seventh grade. And these people can go from "Virus is a hoax!" to "Virus is so very not a hoax that it is unavoidable!" in ten seconds flat.
I’m not used to middle school students yet
I made a joke about giving extra credit for one of those turkey-hand-tracing drawings. And then some of them actually went and did it
Sarcasm doesn’t land here the way it did in HS. Do I have to give the extra credit now?
I've seen a LOT of people on Facebook this week taking large group photos (both families and school/church events). I want to ask them all if they're under the impression that coordinating their outfits will protect them from germs.
Any voice that tells you your vote doesn't count is a voice that wants to silence you so that it can talk over you.
Please vote today if you haven't already.
What's the Halloween Costume you've always wanted to wear but never quite found the time/occasion for?
For reasons mysterious even to me, I have always thought it would be terribly cool to dress up as the Morton Salt girl, complete with giant canister of salt.
