Thank you @rhodeislandpbs for the great profile of the @RIHistory Moving Image and Audio Collections! It's wonderful to see so much of our footage highlighted! Particular shoutouts to @NBC10 and @wpri12 whose #newsfilm is the backbone of our film archive. watch.ripbs.org/video/hollyw…

Watch the video of Jahmal's grandmother, Lela Mae Williams, and her children getting on the bus that would take them north in 1962. This archival footage is from @RIHistory's @NBC10 collection. youtube.com/watch?v=nU_xYAmz…

Wonderful to hear audio from @rihistory's @wpri12 collection included in this week's @ThisAmerLife, and to see footage from our @NBC10 collection accompanying the episode on their site. Nothing better than getting history out of the archive and into the world!

Beautiful piece from @wpri12 featuring film from @rihistory of the 1st Pride parade in PVD in 1976. This is some of my favorite footage that I've ever found in our collections - great to see it shared so widely! Thank you @ShiinaHL for the story! #Pride wpri.com/news/local-news/pro…

Thank you for the festivals #GeorgeWein. I only discovered this 1964 filmed interview in the archive about a month ago, and I feel very lucky to be able to put it out into the world today.
We were deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Newport Jazz Festival & Newport Folk Festival founder George Wein yesterday at the age of 95. We searched our archives to share this interview with Wein from 1964 conducted by @wpri12 bit.ly/2XkUqPZ

Fantastic piece from my friend @phileil about the US's obsession with "happiness." By the 3rd time my health insurance company sent me a text message pressuring me to sign up for their new app "Happify" in the middle of a pandemic I wanted to scream.

I'm really sad to have missed the @PawSox era in Rhode Island, but at least I get to track down old footage like this first ever game at McCoy Stadium in #Pawtucket on April 24, 1970.
#OTD 40 years ago the longest game in professional baseball history began b/w the Pawtucket Red Sox and Rochester Red Wings. 33 innings/8 hours and 25 min that spanned between 3 days. For those feeling #PawSox nostalgia, here are clips from their first official game in McCoy

All over this in the kelly green! @ChrnclsOfMARMIA is my favorite archive to support!
Great conference today from @digicomMA. This from Jaccavrie McNeely is really resonating: "It’s really cool that we have something that dates back to the 1600s, but the average patron should be able to come in and see something that relates to them." #dcconference21

#OTD in 1965 Governor John Chafee signed the Rhode Island Fair Housing Practices Act. Recently digitized from our archive is this incredible footage (with sound) of that historic event which includes commentary from the famous civil rights activist Clifford Monteiro. #RIhistory

A highlight of my documentary career was when #peteseeger started playing his banjo and singing "John Henry" during an interview AFTER telling us he didn't want to sing on camera anymore-a magical moment. Here he is in 1967 in Newport. Wait for the wisdom on singing for children.
Any Pete Seeger fans out there?! Check out this video we just uploaded to YouTube of him performing at the @Newportfolkfest in 1967, the Summer of Love 😎 youtu.be/Gd7aSCD-GyU

2 1/2 years into my time at @rihistory, and we finally had enough film digitized to cut a promo reel! Thank you so much to @RazCunningham and @LittleFireLF for putting together this beautiful sample of our moving image collections! youtu.be/GTzrxNEkK5k
