I've written a book! It's called 'Self-Helpless', and it's my take on the self-improvement industry. It's funny (I hope). In SA shops in Sept and available to pre-order as e-book now: a.co/8WdC51Z
Video in which Renaldo Gouws and Roman Cabanac discuss how Roman can’t listen to Queen because Freddie Mercury was gay, and also that his death from AIDS is proof that God exists. Cc @jsteenhuisen@helenzille
I am also absolutely certain that @jsteenhuisen and @helenzille already know about this video as it is circulating among DA employees, many of whom are appalled by these appointments.
In its insistence on taking a “brave stand” against the “woke mind virus” and “cancel culture” the DA leadership is willing to ride roughshod over what we hope will be the very basic GNU values of decency and inclusivity.
Also, in today's Cape Times, my review of #SelfHelpless by @becsplanb!
(I saw three strangers discussing the review and the book in a coffee shop this morning - quite a surreal experience.)
Tomorrow (Friday 14 Sept) I'll be in conversation with John Maytham at the @CapeTalk studios about my new book 'Self-Helpless' at 17h00. You're invited to join us - just SMS your name, ID number & the word 'BOOK' to 31567, and come!
If you're in Joburg next Wednesday 19 September, I'll be launching my new book 'Self-Helpless' at Love Books in Melville, 18h00, and I'd love to see you there.
My partner @Sage_Of_Absurd and I have produced a feature on gay Muslims. It was hard to research and will be unpopular in some circles, but hopefully also helpful to some: dailymaverick.co.za/article/…
Don’t touch me on my tekkies!
For the ever-provocative columnist Haji Mohamed Dawjee (@Sage_Of_Absurd), tekkies are not just cool but a political statement to people of colour.

Cape Town - RSVP today for the launch of @Sage_Of_Absurd's "Sorry, Not Sorry": next Monday, 5:30 PM at the @book_lounge. She'll be in conversation with none other than @MarianneThamm. (Hier kom 'n ding!)
