The storms last night made me think of the storms many of our students go through on a nightly basis. I thought about how my 1 night of sleep loss impacted me today. Now, think about how their "storms" impact them. Their behavior is often not about you. #behavior

When Tier 1 is weak, lots of students look like they need intervention.
When Tier 2 is weak, lots of students look like they need Tier 3 or special education.
Strong investments in Tier 1 & Tier 2 is a critical starting place for prevention.
Access gaps = outcome gaps.

Over 150 elementary teachers came together on a Saturday to learn about behavior strategies. There was energy and laughter and engagement. Door prizes, great breakfast provided, free goodies, and tangible items to take home. That's what I call a great day!

Even when doing consulting, I never get tired of that teacher high. The moment you see light bulbs go off in your audience, when you can see their perspectives change. And all while sharing a few laughs in the process. Same great feeling I had in the classroom.

We've been releasing a monthly smore for CCISD teachers for classroom management tips. If you haven't already, take a look. If you aren't in CCISD, ask for quick easy strategy reminders from your district as well. Sometimes you don't need a full day training. Only a refresher.

Educators pat yourself on the back for the start to the school year. Even if it wasn't perfect, getting kids through the door (and parents out) and getting them back home safely is not an easy task. It takes so much work that goes unnoticed. #teaching #seethepositive #education

Watching a movie does not qualify you to be a director.
It seems like we should have the same rationale for educators.
