60026 'Helvellyn' romps away from Derby as it passes Wilmorton on 24th April 2026 working the 6L92 Chaddesden Sidings to King's Lynn Up TC empty JNAs. 60026 was, briefly, pressed into use on hire to DC Rail from GBRf whilst long-term hire loco 60095 was at Toton for maintenance.

Newly named 60063 'Robert Leech' stands in the freshly laid sidings at Longport on 12/05/26 having arrived from Toton. This was its public unveiling in original BR triple grey colours, with the logo of new owner ESH Rail Services on the bodyside. All photos taken with permission.

56103 stands under the ever impressive roof at London King's Cross on 26/04/26 having arrived with the 1Z60 from Bristol TM. This was the return leg of the Branch Line Society's 'Paxman Quarrier' railtour, which had visited the Tytherington branch and also featured 60099 & 57306.

37800 'Cassiopeia' departs from Melton Mowbray with the 7H70 Ely Papworth Sidings to Wolverton on 22/04/26. Former EMR units 156470 & 156497 were in the formation, from storage at Ely and believed to have been moved to Wolverton for component recovery.

Not seen it mentioned on here but 60063 has been returned to 'as built' condition, outshopped into BR triple grey at Toton TMD for new owners ESH Rail Services Ltd (formerly DBI Holdings Ltd, who up until recently were part of the Land Recovery empire). The loco awaits decals.

56006 stands at Bury Bolton Street on 21/03/26 with a short rake of BR blue & grey mk1s. Part of a small photo shoot organised by Midland Diesel Photo Charters in conjunction with the Class 56 Group, marking the 50th anniversary of these locomotives first introduced in 1976.

Two views of 60095 'Whernside' from 26/3/26. It is captured at Rearsby (Leicestershire) then, after a tight chase, at Three Horse Shoes (Turves, near Whittlesey) with the 6L83 Peak Forest to Eccles Road (Johnston's Siding). The loco is currently on hire to DC Rail from GBRf.

On hire to Colas from Swietelsky, 37424 stands at Melton Mowbray awaiting the road westbound whilst working the 3Q04 Derby RTC to Derby RTC UTU3 test train on 4th February 2026. The set reversed here before running via Leicester, Nuneaton, Castle Bromwich and Burton-upon-Trent.

56098 passes over the River Wreake at Rhubarb Island, Melton Mowbray on 26/02/26 working the 0Z47 Leicester LIP to Test Tracks Melton (Old Dalby). The scenic island is part of the old Melton Mowbray Navigation and is named after the large, wild, rhubarb-like plant that covers it.

Awaiting its path to Leicester, 56098 rests in the Up Sidings at Melton Mowbray yesterday afternoon with the 0J01 Old Dalby (Test Tracks Melton) to Leicester LIP. Whilst away for an exam, 47727 is occupying its place at the test track which had arrived from Leicester just prior.
