Today I'm happy to announce that I decided to release the full source code of the SNES game "Sure Instinct". github.com/BenjaminSchulte/Sโ€ฆ The project is not maintained anymore, but feel free to use it to create own maps, for learning or to even create a full version of the game.

Map editing was too difficult, so I decided to rewrite my map build process and the editor. (which takes time, so I don't post that much) Until now all tiles had many logic options linked, now I'm splitting the graphic and logic apart in the editor (not in the game) (WIP Video)

I'm planing to visit the #retrosaar (Germany) on 9th of October to present my #snes game. Designed some fake packaging for #sureinstinct as decoration for the table. ๐Ÿ€๐ŸŽฎ๐Ÿ˜ƒ #snesdev #indiegame

Currently adding special debug features to my #bsnes fork that are specific to my engine. Lastly I added a feature to find access to invalid memory which already helped me to solve some minor bugs. These features will also help me to improve my #jrpg #snes engine. ๐Ÿชฒ๐Ÿž๐Ÿ”ซ

I wrote a small ROM to make my music editor and the #SNES music playback mostly accurate. The music editor now plays nearly exactly like the SNES itself. I also fixed the ingame song of #sureinstinct, which was mostly playing in the wrong octave: bennysnesdev.itch.io/sure-inโ€ฆ

Thought about what my next steps should be. Came up with: 1. Improve sound quality (thanks for help @Goldlocke7) 2. Write tool to debug multi-threading memory access 3. Migrate new features from #SureInstinct to my game engine 4. Make plans for further #JRPG development

Did you already find some shortcuts? There is actually a shortcut for each stage (except for the tutorial) to solve the level very fast. #sureinstinct

A screenshot of my very first prototype of Sure Instinct back in June. Thanks to some customizations of the #bsnes emulator I'm able to print debug messages and add breakpoints from code. โšฝ๏ธ #snesdev #snes #sureinstinct

My game "Sure Instinct" has just been released for #snes (for #SNESdev game jam)! Steer a ball through challenging stages, switch perspectives and find the correct path to reach to goal. You can play with mouse or gamepad! >>> bennysnesdev.itch.io/sure-inโ€ฆ <<< #indiedev #videogame

Tomorrow evening I'll publish my game "Sure Instinct" for the #snesdev game jam after three busy months! It's an action-puzzle game for #snes. I'm really happy with the result ๐Ÿ˜ƒ... Even though I was too busy with work for proper testing lately! >_< #sureinstinct #indiedev

Didn't expect such a difference between the emulators. My game runs perfectly on bsnes and the real #snes, but snes9x and mesen-s have troubles with my audio engine which breaks the whole game. Looks like some days of debugging ๐Ÿ˜ญ

Finally!! My game for the #snes #gamejam is done! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿ˜ƒ From today on I'll only improve visuals and sound. Well.. and fix bugs I guess. ๐Ÿ˜… Can't wait to share some impressions soon!

I'm working a lot for the SNES game jam lately, but last weekend I made a small SNES ROM for some friends who run the "Retro Wave Arcade" at #DoKomi this year. The arcade is a huge area where you can play any kind of retro video games so I thought an #snes logo would fit in great

Three weeks working on the game now. Trying to finish a micro-version of the game first and add more and more features depending on the time left until the contest ends. Added the ingame user-interface today. I also try to add lots of the new features to my main engine too.

Added a complex collision routine for my current game jam project. The very very very basic is already working, but far from done. Working on the main "perspective" topic part now.

It's now one week since the SNES game jam started. I'm currently busy with my main job, so I'm not done with the proof-of-concept game, but rendering, scrolling and movement is working. But I'm optimistic๐Ÿ˜† Also making lots of WIP screenshots to share them with you later! ๐Ÿ˜Š

I added a feature to my build-engine that allows to have custom "per-tile-properties". Until now the RPG engine only supported it's predefined data format, but as other games might need different properties you can now define your own.
6
It took me several hours and one prototype to figure out an idea for the SNES game jam theme "perspective". But I finally found one I'm really happy with! I won't show many screenshots in the next weeks, as I want to keep it a surprise for now. Stay tuned! #snesdev #gamejam
