I’m soooo over these supposedly “concerned” PH volleyball fans who, until now, still don’t get that the problem lies with the system, not with whichever players happen to be wearing the jersey.
If we truly want to see the 2025 Alas core back for the remaining tournaments this year, then the pressure should be on the PNVF, the Ad Hoc Committee, and the players to sit down and reach a compromise. That’s the only way this gets resolved.
Not by throwing comments like “kung hindi sana kayo nag-accept” or calling the current lineup “enablers.” My goodness, isn’t it obvious that they’re not the ones in control here? If anything, what some people seem to want is for PNVF to court and convince those who declined—but based on everything we’ve seen, they never intended to do that in the first place. 🙄
And let’s be realistic. Even if every single player in the current lineup also declined “to teach PNVF a lesson,” another team would still be formed to represent the country. The federation would simply move on and field whoever is available.
Please understand this: it is far more beneficial for the Philippines to have a team competing in the AVC than to have no team at all. The country earns experience, exposure, and valuable world ranking opportunities by showing up.
Now, whether the current lineup should remain for future tournaments is a different discussion altogether. If we’re genuinely thinking about the long-term future of Philippine volleyball, then why can’t we agree that the previous core deserves to be nurtured and retained? They’ve already shown what they’re capable of and proved they can compete at a higher level.
At the end of the day, it’s the system that needs fixing. Once that’s addressed, everything else—the lineup, the players’ willingness to play, and the future of the national team—will naturally follow. 🤞🇵🇭
