Hi
@MichaelSteranka :)
Unlike certain folks would have you believe, I am not a fat lazy bozo sat in front of the tv all day passively remote raiding and refusing to get off my ass and GO!
Well, maybe fat 🤣
Not the other things tho! I actually quite enjoy going outside to play pogo. I often spend HOURS walking through the city, esp during cool events 😍
Now that we have somewhat of an understanding of the type of player I am, I'd like to take a moment to illustrate how someone like myself might be (definitely is) extremely negatively impacted by Niantic's decision to nuke remote raids.
For example, right at this moment we have a very exciting event going on!! A new pokemon is released WITH ITS SHINY and a legendary gets its exclusive move 🔥
And YET this event is HAUNTED by the ghost of remote raids' past. Allow me to explain.
The task to obtain the fancy fun cool new pokemon is a tough one. (Totally fair!) Win 3 raids. (Less fair)
Although I believe this task in and of itself is problematic, I will not be focusing on this point.
Rather, I would like to explain why SPECIFICALLY BECAUSE OF THE REMOTE RAID CAP, this task DEMOTIVATES playing the event altogether.
Although I enjoy catching in general, my main goal for this event is to get my hands on as many turtonators as I can! I'm sure many players can relate to this, it's a whole new mon in pogo after all 🎉
Earlier today I was able to collect 3 "win 3 raids" tasks at once. This was my 2nd batch, meaning i had already used up my 5 remote raids and needed 1 in-person raid to complete this set.
If you take a look at this photo and squint really really hard, in the distance you can see that there is a legendary raid starting there. And among the SIX visible gyms, this is the ONLY raid starting at all.
I'd also like to draw your attention to all the pokestops on the way to the gym. All of the potential event tasks that I am FORCED to SKIP because my task storage is filled.
The raid in question is ON my grind path. I would have naturally gotten there and used my free daily on it ANYWAY.
But NOW, because of the nuke to remotes, I could not clear my tasks which made the 20 minute walk to get there, frankly, boring.
Spawns were scarce and I didn't have constantly rotating tasks to motivate me as I went. It was nothing but an aimless walk from one spot to another, with none of the excitement that comes with an engaging journey that tasks provide.
If I could have cleared my tasks with a remote raid, I probably would've been able to collect another 3 of em by the time I got to the IP one! Making it a much more satisfying and fun experience overall 🙏
Once I completed the IP raid, I walked a bit until I got another round of the 3 "win a raid" tasks. At that point there were no *good* raids around. And I am unable to CHOOSE what to raid, as I cannot join any remotes.
I am left with a frustrating decision. Do I throw my money at "trash raids" - anything thats around, even if I don't care about the boss? OR do I just...stop for the day? Since it just feels fruitless at this point anyway.
I went home. Despite having the time and desire to play, I was so suffocated by your limitations that it just wasn't worth it.
Your oppressive tactics meant to force us to GO, only make me wanna GO home.
Lift the limit.
Lower the price.
Bring back the magic of GO.
