26 weeks pregnant with a cough. Husband thinks it’s cute the way I tuck my leg up like a flamingo every time I feel an attack coming on.

Five weeks into this pregnancy, I couldn’t find it in me to hope I would ever get to see this sweet little face. So I held you like a secret until I finally grew bold enough to carry you like a promise. Oh my sweet summer child… I can’t wait to kiss that cute little nose. ❤️

My 4yo wears her clothes for either 2 hours or 2 days. There is no in-between.

2yo tried to prolong bedtime snuggles by saying, “Well, I fink Daddy went to bed and prolly he wants some alone time.” (It worked. I’m a sucker for snuggles.)

There are probably a lot of reasons you shouldn’t date your friend’s brother. Fortunately for me, I’ve never been one to let Reason be my guide. Happy Anniversary to the best gut decision I ever made. Thankful for this man and all the life we’ve squeezed out of the last 6 years.

It is finished. She loves it. And as a bonus, her 2yo brother also wanted to play haircut, so he no longer has Dora hair.
My 4yo old has once again asked me to cut her hair short like Dora’s. I really don’t want to cut it that short, but I also don’t want to deny her something she has been asking me to do for over 6 months. Ugh. Motherhood is hard. 😭

I’ve decided that the problem with asking for parenting advice is, by the time you’re asking, it’s because all the intuitive things aren’t working, but you’ll get a hundred people telling you to just do the intuitive thing that has already failed to work for you.

Like, I want advice from people who struggled with this and only from people who struggled with this. Because the rest of you clearly don’t know what’s up. 😂

Did I just get spoiled by having such a peaceful baby last time, or are this child’s movements particularly aggressive? 🤔

Me: “I need to sign the kids up for the library’s summer reading program so we can get free fair tickets again!” Me realizing the fair runs during my 38th week of pregnancy:

Homeschooling and spending time with your kids are two different things though. 🧐 Like, I love my husband. We never tire of being together. And yet, he has told me time and time again he hates having to teach me things because I don’t respond well to it.
“I could never homeschool, I’d go crazy” is a sentence people say out loud without realizing what they’re admitting about their relationship with their own children. We are the only species that considers it unusual to WANT to be around our own offspring. We built institutions, schedules, and social shame around it. And then we act shocked when the kids grow up feeling like a burden. Then they have kids, and the cycle has a name now but we still won’t say it out loud.

I plan to homeschool my kids because I believe it’s the best route, but to be honest, I am not looking forward to it. Grocery shopping, splash parks, checking cows, daily life? That’s where I’d rather be hanging out with my kiddos.

First week of June: 25 years since my first encounter with death (Miss you, Grandma!). My aunt with brain cancer gets referred to hospice. My grandma has 29 life-threatening heart episodes in one night. And today is Baby 7’s due date. It’s rough over here, y’all. 😭

Mom Help Wanted: Potty Training Revision My son has been trained since July, night dry since March. He has wet the bed 4 of the last 5 nights. I don’t really want to put him back in pull-ups (he doesn’t want that either), but I also don’t want to wash sheets every morning. 1/2

I’m aware he’s going through some kind of developmental leap (highly emotional, crashing out and napping at random times, sleeping 11-12 hours some nights). Do I just force him into pull-ups until we’re over this hump? How do I navigate this without demoralizing him? 2/2

Here’s the problem with projecting your own experience onto random things you read on the internet: Ooh, look at the big bad world I sent my 4yo off into. Think of all the trouble she could have gotten into after I watched her disappear on the porch next door.
What if the four year old didn’t even make it to the neighbors house? The mother wouldn’t have even have known till a whole hour later

Toddler woke up today around 6:30 per usual, but no one else was up yet. Girl went full meltdown in the living room as if the rapture had happened without her.
