Aspen Class has been creating villains for their upcoming horror stories. The children sketched creepy characters and wrote vivid descriptions to bring these frightening creations—from mysterious monsters to sinister strangers— alive and delightfully spooky.

Year 1 have been learning about plants and what they need to grow and stay healthy. As part of their learning, the children have enjoyed growing their own plants and will be writing instructions to explain how others can grow their plants.

This week, the reception children have immersed themselves in our space-themed tuff tray, becoming astronauts on a moon mission. They used their writing skills to record CVC words, drew the aliens they found, and designed 2D shape aliens.

As part of our Brackenhill on Foot project, Year 2 enjoyed a sensory walk to Brackenhill Meadow. We explored the seasonal changes around us using our senses and learned more about the natural environment. We were delighted to spot lots of wildlife during our visit!

Larch class have been learning about Brazilian culture. They researched what they do for Samba, Carnivals, Football, Food and Capoeira and why it is important to them.

Year 2 have been enjoying learning about Elizabeth Blackwell and how she never gave up when she wanted to be a doctor. She realised the link between poor hygiene and illness. We discussed the importance of washing our hands and made posters to encourage people to wash their hands

Year 4 have been learning about Brazil and exploring the difference between physical and human features. They worked hard to identify natural features and features that have been created by people, developing their geography skills and understanding of the world around them.🌎

This week, the Reception children have been learning about Space. They have enjoyed exploring planets, stars, astronauts and have been working hard to write simple sentences about what they have learned.

This week in Year 5, we took our maths lesson outside to apply our knowledge of coordinates. Children searched for letters scattered across our field with the help of a map! Eventually we had to work out what the letters had spelt out.

This week, Year 3 designed and made their very own Ancient Greek catapults. They carefully measured different lengths of wood before cutting and assembling them. It was a little fiddly but their perseverance paid off and they are super proud of their final products.

Before the holidays, we took part in our Bradford on Foot walk where we spotted post boxes in the local area and drew the royal cyphers on each one. We were lucky enough to be on Great Horton Road when the postman came to collect the letters!

School closes today at 3:30 PM and will reopen on Monday, June 1st at 8:30 AM for our final half term of the year! Time has absolutely flown by. We want to wish all our families a safe, happy and restful holiday. To everyone celebrating Eid during the break—Eid Mubarak!

This week, Year 3 dived into their science topic by investigating which objects floated and which sank. The children put their scientific skills to the test by making predictions, recording careful observations, and drawing conclusions.

From minibeasts to megabeasts, the children have been learning about creatures big and small. They've explored animals through play, stories, art and hands-on activities. Take a look at the wonderful discoveries we've made!

Year 3 created clay pots inspired by the Ancient Greeks, carefully moulding the clay into different shapes and patterns. Once the pots had dried, they painted them with colourful designs to complete their Greek-inspired artwork. #Year3 #AncientGreeks #DimensionCurriculum

Year 3 painted on pebbles this week and added powerful words and messages that can make a positive difference in the world. They are excited to gift them to their linking school friends when they visit us next week, to celebrate the friendships they have built together.

Year 1 children had great fun exploring the volume of water , while using vocabulary such as full, empty, nearly full, and nearly empty.

“Ahoy there, me hearties!” Year 2 have been exploring pirates. The children researched famous ships and learned about sea adventures. Using creativity and teamwork, they designed and made their own pirate ships, considering features like sails, flags and cannons.

This week in DT, children have been designing their own versions of ‘hairy trousers’ inspired by the legendary Ragnar Lothbrok. We are so proud of their fantastic concepts and enthusiasm — a brilliant mix of history and creativity!
