Behind every loved one killed or injured in a crash, there's a series of decisions from community members, politicians & transportation officials.
Make no mistake: Salih's death was predictable preventable. We must hold ourselves & our representatives accountable.

"Salih Koç, 21, was killed in a hit-and-run while biking at the intersection of 38th Ave. and Tejon St. in Denver. The Turkish student was visiting the U.S. on a work-travel program; he had been in Denver for a little over a month when he was killed." bucketlistcommunitycafe.com/…
This is not normal. We don't have to live, be injured and be killed in this way. @DenverDOTI@denversmayor, you have the power to change the cars-first status quo.

With permission from Salih's family, DBL is organizing a ghost bike dedication at the crash site (W 38th Ave & Tejon St) on Saturday, 8/2, at 11 AM. Please join us, especially if you are a community member in District 1, & share with your neighbors.

“Owning a car does not give you the right to take up public space.” When Pontevedra Mayor Miguel Lores was elected on a car-free platform in 1999, he wasted no time. The city was in severe decline, with pollution, health, safety, and livability all trending the wrong direction.🧵

Hi @dps_k12@DrAlexMarrero I just witnessed a yellow bus driver speed through a school zone (Skinner MS), on a @DenverDOTI neighborhood bikeway/residential street (W 41st Ave) way above the 20mph limit. If anyone should drive at safe speeds it should be our school bus 🚌 drivers.
I appreciate @abuvthefold writing about homelessness in the #Denver metro region, but wonder why the root causes of homelessness are not mentioned. Can we learn more on that? denverpost.com/2025/02/23/ar…

No. “The culprit” is decades-long policies that have centered the private automobile in our transportation decisions. People lose their homes, businesses & lives (40,000 /year) to car dependency. Colfax BRT is undoing some of that damage by reclaiming space for people—all people.
We need your help to save $$$ for pedestrian dingity, safety and livable communities. I just sent a message to my CO representatives. PLEASE do the same ➡️ votervoice.net/Shares/BEtj3A…
