Fable isn't the first. In 1999 the department of defense blocked exports of the PowerMac G4 for crossing the 1 gigaflop threshold. Steve Jobs turned it into an ad.

30 years later and "Clear and Present Danger" remains unmatched. No capeshit. No quips. Just Ford in glasses, moral clarity, and explosions that actually meant something. This is what competence porn looked like before we got addicted to slop. 🎬📺 Clear And Present Danger🔥

Powerful piece, highly recommend reading. Democrats need people like Platner if they are going to come to terms with the true nature of our country, with what we have done to people at home and abroad, and pull together the coalition needed to heal and reshape it. “A tiny minority of Americans (6%) ever serve in the military. Of these, only 40% of veterans have ever deployed to a combat zone. And of those deployed, only about 10% participated in actual ground combat. I am one of those, and so is Platner. His pathology: a combination of traumatic stress, substance abuse, impulsive decision-making in the past, and deep anger at the moral injury he sustained wearing the cloth of this nation, is something this country ought to consider when it sends its young men and women to war. The question before Maine is not whether Graham Platner is perfect. The question is whether the United States Senate, the state of Maine, and the country as a whole would benefit from having his voice in the room when decisions are made. The answer is yes…” “A democracy that insists on perfection will eventually find itself represented only by people skilled at hiding their flaws.”

… just such a miss for San Francisco to have passed on this. Reminds me of when Stanford passed on the Reagan Library. 🤦‍♂️

You know why I don’t buy the “everyone will build their own software” take? I can build this. I have the tools. I know how (probably). But I don't want to. I want someone else to to build it maintain it, and charge me for it.

I want the following in Codex, Cursor, and OpenCode... 1. Pinned Messages: Let me pin assistant messages to the sidebar for things I want to keep track of but am not ready to address yet. Render as a checklist & jump navigation. 2. Notes: Give me a scratchpad for thoughts while working.

🚨BREAKING! New Glenn’s 4th flight is no longer expected to occur next week and may potentially be delayed further. The delay potentially stems from the fact that the rocket and launch pad no longer exists

I think the most disappointing thing about the billionaire class is how unimaginative they are spending their money. A massive yacht. Empty mansions. Owning islands. Credit to Elon For wilding out on fucking spaceships.

Airbnb stuck their entire customer journey up on their office walls. Drawn by a Pixar animator, pinned where everyone walks past them daily. 30 frames. 15 for hosts. 15 for guests. They call it "Snow White." Chesky stole the idea from a Walt Disney biography in 2011. Every new product idea has to answer: → "Which frame does this serve?" If it fits a frame, that determines the owner, who prioritises it against their KPIs. If it doesn’t fit a frame, it doesn’t serve the customer, and doesn’t get shipped.
