Big Life is a non-profit dedicated to the conservation of East Africa’s wildlife and ecosystems through a holistic community-based collaborative approach.
Few things feel more East African than a sundowner with friends, especially when elephants are nearby.
This #WorldGinDay, we’re raising a glass to Elephant Gin, whose support helps protect elephants, rangers, communities, and wild landscapes.
Maisha marefu! 🐘🍸
Learning to use a trunk is harder than it looks.
Last year, more than 200 elephants were born to Amboseli’s herds. Thanks to rains, ranger protection, and community habitat efforts, calves like this one have room to learn.

#FunFactFriday: the Red-billed quelea is the world’s most numerous wild bird. It can hatch in as little as 9 days and fledge just two weeks later.
These flocks are sweeping across Greater #Amboseli after recent rains — a sign of healthy grasslands for wildlife and livestock.
As Greater Amboseli’s green season gives way to dry-season gold, life is still everywhere: elephants gathering in protected wetlands, grazers spread across open plains, and rangers and communities helping keep this landscape connected and resilient.

“Help! There’s a zebra in my toilet!”
In two days, Big Life rangers rescued two zebras from pit latrines — one adult with help from @KWSKenya vet Dr Kariuki, and one foal.
Both survived because community members called us. Trust saves wildlife.
