Over a year of work is almost ready, exciting surprises are coming from Express.

I used to think meetings in open source were important. After being involved in webpack, I’ve realized they’re not. I feel more comfortable there than in projects where meetings feel mandatory and bureaucratic. While occasional meetings help with next steps, they shouldn’t be the norm.

I don't mind if you're using AI when contributing to OSS. In fact, I prefer that you do! HOWEVER Please don't just forward messages between me and your Claude. I have my own Claude I can talk to. I don't want to talk to your Claude. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

This thing of going to sleep at 1am and waking up at 4am on Wednesdays is going to affect me somehow.

Every day I get more tired of people using AI to contribute to open source in the wrong way. Please, if you are going to use AI for your contributions, at least make sure that no one else has already opened a PR for the issue you are trying to fix, and be clear that you used AI. And if you are going to respond, make sure it is a human and not just a bot. Also, make sure you actually understand what you are doing. Most people do not even know what they are doing, and that only makes things frustrating. I am honestly getting to the point where I would rather fix the issue myself than encourage participation, because people do not even make the effort to understand things anymore. Maintainers do not have that much time, so please be considerate. Doing triage is becoming harder and more frustrating every time because of AI. And do not get me wrong. I use it too, but I know what I am doing.

We are looking for large codebases that use webpack and want to try our new work around performance, which should increase your build performance by around 2x-4.5x. Comment below and we will contact you! 💙
