Karamo Brown recalls an episode of ”Queer Eye” in which the production staged a police stop—where Brown was driving without his driver's license—solely to capture his genuine reaction on camera. “They were like, "You have to drive." I said, "Fine." We're driving, we're shooting as usual. And then, all of a sudden, we get stopped by a police officer. We're getting pulled over. You can see — because it made the episode — real fear in my face and in my castmate’s face. Because none of us knew what was going on. At that moment, I realized: I don’t have my license, I’m in the South, I’m a Black man, and I do not feel safe right now. The cop came up, went along with it, was aggressive, and we were scared. He told me to get out of the car. You can see it in us. It was not acting. We were all terrified because we are part of a community that has been harassed and beaten by the police. None of us felt safe. We have someone who identifies as non-binary. We have two people from different countries. We have a Black man in the driver’s seat. And then we come to find out that the person who pulled us over was part of the show and was one of our heroes. It immediately clicked for me: “Oh, so you wanted a Black man to drive so you could get the genuine response of a Black man being terrified while being pulled over by a cop.”

Wanda Sykes said Bill Maher stopped her in the Golden Globes parking lot to ask for an explanation regarding the “try less” joke “He stopped me out in the parking lot, we were waiting for our cars. He was like, ‘What was that about?’ And I was like, ‘It’s a joke, Bill.’ He’s like, ‘Well, I mean, it wasn’t even a joke.’ I was like, ‘Oh no, I heard laughing. It was clearly a joke.’” She continues “He’s like, ‘But I don’t... I don’t... but, I mean, I don’t, but still... I mean, it’s not even a joke. It was just like...’ I said, ‘See? You’re doing exactly what we said in the joke! We need less of this! You epitomize the joke. Less of this! He said he was getting a lot of texts and people were saying, ‘What was that?’ and ‘It was a stupid joke,’” “And when he said ‘stupid,’ I said, ‘Okay, now you’re gonna get it,’ I was like, ‘Well, I got a lot of texts telling me how great it was and how they don’t like you, and it was really funny.’ I guess, you know, that’s the problem. You’re watching Fox News, and I’m over here on MSNBC. See? And then he asked me to be on his podcast, I was like, ‘Absolutely not!’” 🔗 Good Ones | IG

Gabrielle Union is executive producing (through her I'll Have Another company) and is in talks to star in a new legal drama called Debbie at HBO Max. It follows Debbie Powell, a once-powerful Atlanta attorney who had a very public fall from grace and now has to rebuild her career as a public defender. She's using her sharp skills, old connections, and that signature fire to fight for the people the system usually forgets — one big, messy case at a time. deadline.com/2026/06/gabriel…

Nia Long spoke to Numéro Netherlands about her next project "Don't Ever Wonder" "On this particular project, Larenz Tate and I spent almost three years trying to get the film made. We’re determined to tell a story with levity, and the chemistry audiences are looking forward to seeing. Larenz and I hold a very special space within the culture that we don't take that for granted." 🔗 numeronetherlands.com/in-con…

Queen Latifah appeared at the FQ Lounge and shared the struggle her mother faced to buy a house when the bank refused to lend her money because she was Black "My mom became a single parent when I was young, and I remember her saving her money, saving up, saving up, saving up on a teacher's salary to buy us a home. And when she went to get a loan from the bank, with all her good credit and all that, she was denied that loan. She was not denied that loan because she didn't have the right credit. She wasn't denied that loan because she did not have enough money. She was denied that loan because she was Black and she was a woman. That is a problem. At 21, I bought my mother her first house, and I paid for it by the time I was 23, because she deserved it." 🔗 FQ Leaders | IG

Yung Miami jokes about the time she messaged Drake about a song and he just liked the message “I got a song called ‘Take Me to Chanel’ and I was trying to get him on the song. I remember DM’ing him, but that was at the time when he was going through all his sh– [Drake x Kendrick]. And when people going through they sh–, like, I get it, I understand. … But I DM’d him like, ‘Drake, I think you’ll sound good on ‘Take Me to Chanel.’ He just liked the message like come on, now, don’t do that! Drake, don’t do that now ’cause when you called me I was there! But, nah, I f— with Drake, I understand.”
