Hauwa Otori is a Staff Researcher at the GitHub Security Lab. Hauwa established and developed the Lab’s socio-technical research area, where she explores the interactions between developer and security research communities.

Beyond GitHub, she is the founder, executive producer, and host of the Building Black Podcast, a narrative-style podcast that tells inspiring stories of Black entrepreneurs and builders from across the globe.

One June 17, 2021, President Biden made Juneteenth a federal holiday.

The newly freed people were encouraged to remain with their past owners. Many of them didn't listen. Instead they, left to Texas to find family members and make their way in the postbellum U.S.
