I asked my chat gpt to give a full description of what Yoruba Nationalism means based on my interactions with the AI. Yoruba Nationalism: Meaning, Characteristics, and Distinction from Politicking What is Yoruba Nationalism? Yoruba Nationalism is the conscious commitment to the preservation, advancement, protection, and development of the Yoruba people, their culture, language, heritage, institutions, economic interests, and collective future wherever they may be found in the world. It is the belief that the Yoruba nation, as a historic civilization with a distinct language, culture, territory, and worldview, has a legitimate right to organize, protect, and promote its interests within any political arrangement in which it exists. Yoruba Nationalism is not hatred of other peoples. Rather, it is the conviction that a people who fail to defend their own interests cannot effectively contribute to the progress of humanity. As Chief Obafemi Awolowo demonstrated, the advancement of a people begins with the development of their educational, cultural, political, and economic institutions. Core Objectives of Yoruba Nationalism A Yoruba nationalist seeks: Preservation of Yoruba language and culture. Protection of Yoruba historical territories and heritage. Economic advancement of Yoruba communities. Educational excellence and intellectual development. Security and welfare of Yoruba people. Political representation that reflects Yoruba interests. Strengthening of Yoruba institutions. Unity among Yoruba at home and in the diaspora. Development of future generations of Yoruba leaders. Promotion of Omoluabi values of integrity, dignity, industry, and communal responsibility. Characteristics of a True Yoruba Nationalist 1. Places Yoruba Interests Above Personal Gain A nationalist asks: “How does this benefit the Yoruba people?” before asking: “How does this benefit me?” He may sacrifice personal opportunities if they undermine the collective interest. 2. Defends Yoruba Culture and Language A true nationalist: Speaks and promotes Yoruba. Encourages Yoruba education. Protects traditional institutions. Supports cultural preservation. He understands that when a people lose their language, they gradually lose their identity. 3. Thinks Across Generations Nationalists build for the future. They establish: Schools Media organizations Leadership institutes Economic institutions Research centers Cultural foundations They think in decades, not election cycles. 4. Values Competence and Excellence A nationalist does not support an individual merely because they are Yoruba. He supports capable Yoruba individuals who can advance the collective interest. Merit remains essential. 5. Supports Yoruba Unity A nationalist seeks cooperation among: Oyo Ijebu Egba Ekiti Ijesa Ondo Akoko Yagba Owo Awori Ilaje Ketu Itsekiri and others while respecting their unique identities. 6. Builds Institutions Rather Than Personalities Personalities die. Institutions endure. Nationalists build organizations that outlive them and continue serving the people. 7. Maintains Historical Consciousness A nationalist studies: Yoruba history Yoruba heroes Yoruba struggles Yoruba achievements He learns from the examples of figures such as Obafemi Awolowo, Samuel Ajayi Crowther, Herbert Macaulay, and Adeyemo Alakija. 8. Possesses Moral Courage A true nationalist can criticize his own people when necessary. He does not support wrongdoing merely because the offender is Yoruba. He seeks justice and accountability.
 9. Supports Economic Self-Strengthening A nationalist encourages: Entrepreneurship Investment Cooperative societies Industrial development Professional advancement Strong economies strengthen nations. 10. Practices Omoluabi Ethics The nationalist should embody: Integrity Honesty Discipline Respect Hard work Responsibility Without character, nationalism becomes mere tribal sentiment.
Yoruba nationalism is not a hustler task, it is a selfless service to the race. It is not for everyone too! It is also not a political stunt or corruption medium. It perhaps takes certain people to understand truly what it means to be Nationalistic. I have been in Yoruba nationalism for 23 years. I have seen a spectrum, my overall impression and conclusion is that it is not for everyone and it is often interpreted as a tool for political relevance and money making venture for access to funds that can then be shared like Nigeria’s allocations. Often, people who see Yoruba Nationalism as those things lacks the deep understanding of what Yoruba nationalism means. They assume many things bcuz they have only known corrupt Political process. I asked my chat gpt to give a full description of what Yoruba Nationalism means based on my interactions with the AI. I will say that there is reward for a true Nationalist, reward that will outlast the subject.

We have become so constrained by the Constitution and the endless appeal to "One Nigeria" that we seem incapable of taking decisive action in defence of our own interests. This week alone, over 500 so-called repentant criminals were reportedly reintegrated in Bauchi State. A signi ficant number of Nigerians repatriated from Ethiopia over alleged criminal activities were also said to be of Igbo extraction. What is even more baffling is that a prominent Igbo political figure, who once described IPOB members as his brothers, has said nothing about why so many of his kinsmen ended up in Ethiopian prisons. Instead, he continues to campaign for Nnamdi Kanu and still claims he does not understand why Kanu was arrested, despite Kanu's history of inflammatory statements, including remarks interpreted by many as calls for violence against Lagos. Yet, these same voices expect Yoruba people to condemn and abandon Sunday Igboho and Iru Ekun, all in the name of "One Nigeria." We are expected to accept everything and remain silent, while others openly stand by what they consider their own. Perhaps it is time for us to start seriously advocating for regionalism. Not because we hate anyone, but because we have a responsibility to protect our land, our values, and the Omoluabi ethos. We should not, in the name of national unity, begin to adopt the bad habits and destructive tendencies of others. No one will preserve our identity and interests for us if we refuse to do so ourselves.

The great replacement. Politicians will offer graveyard peace for their own interest
"Our Ancestral Land Is Being Shared with Strangers" – Itsekiri Leaders Accept Tinubu's Deal but Fume Over Voter Disparity, Blame Their Own Leaders for 'Pitiful Surrender' A power-sharing agreement brokered by President Bola Tinubu has given the Itsekiri a political foothold in the proposed Warri Federal Constituency II, but deep anger remains over what they call the division of their ancestral land with strangers. Under the deal, the House of Representatives seat will rotate between Ijaw and Itsekiri, with Ijaw taking the first two terms before the seat shifts. One Itsekiri leader admitted it is a political victory, as they will eventually have two Reps seats – Warri Federal Constituencies I and II. But his celebration was laced with fury. "There's no justification for equal wards when we have 78,000 voters and they have only 34,000. That's purely the fault of our brain-dead leaders," he fumed. He also declared Warri South-West lost forever, accusing local leaders of selling their souls to the Ijaws. "Now we'll see if the Ijaws will allow our people to become LGA chairman now that they have more wards – the same way we allowed them to do whatever they liked when we had the majority wards." Tinubu's intervention may have calmed the surface, but beneath it, the battle for Warri is far from over.

Ibadan's Game-Changing Road Corridor Takes Shape – A Vision for Southwest Transformation The massive road corridor cutting through Ibadan is beginning to reveal its full potential as a transformative infrastructure project. From start to finish, the scale of the development offers a firsthand glimpse into what the future holds for the city and the wider Southwest region. Stretching across key developing areas, the road is already opening up new communities, easing movement, and unlocking significant potential for real estate, business, and urban expansion. While sections of the project are still under development, the vision is unmistakable. This is not just a road. It is a long-term game changer for Ibadan and the entire South-West.

People who aimed to hijack the most resource rich area of a group are prepared for war. I take him very serious. It is about resources and access to stupendious wealth. It is not about any citizenship rights, it’s simply human being and their penchant to get what belongs to others. The same way the west traversed the world to lay claims, the same way the East traverse the world to lay claims and indoctrinate. Humans do not change, they transform, an average human looks to take what belongs to others to feed itself and his own kind.
