It’s getting harder to find new species after 14 years’ fieldwork at Cruachan, Argyll (VC98) but Dictenidia bimaculata and Xanthandrus comtus were notable additions from last week’s survey @DipteristsForum @CRStipula

Aromia moschata remains a rare longhorn beetle in Scotland so it was fantastic to find three on Angelica in fen woodland at Glenlee (VC73) this week - a very large and impressive creature @NLonghornRS @swseic

Back on my local patch today. Not much about in the heat, but, deep in the shade, appears my favourite hoverfly Brachypalpoides lentus, a nice local rarity. Big Wood, Renfrewshire @DipteristsForum @NHM_Diptera @GlasgowNatHist

Wow! Wasn't expecting a Wasp Beetle Clytus arietis today while surveying at Stonebyres, nr Lanark (NS84/VC77). It's moments like this that reward us for doing the hard miles and early starts @NLonghornRS @TamVC77 @ColSocBI

So excited to start fieldwork at @ScotWildlife Ballachuan Hazelwood Reserve. An amazing scenic site with Forester and Silver Hook moths found on my first walkover last week - plus my main target, Marsh Fritillary. Can't wait to start formal surveys!
