El Salvador is positioned as one of the most advanced countries in Latin America in terms of regulation and governance of artificial intelligence (AI) , according to the most recent State of Preparedness Report for Artificial Intelligence prepared by UNESCO. "El Salvador stands out as a unique case in the region. In a short period, the country has built a distinctive regulatory and institutional framework (…) Added to this are large-scale international alliances, which project El Salvador into the global debate on AI in the public sector,” said Lidia Brito, Acting Assistant Director-General for Social and Human Sciences at UNESCO, during the report's presentation.
