A bit surreal & exciting to have my first paper as first author out just before attending my first INSAR. Thanks @liz_pellicano & co-authors for your insights & support - ‘We have so much to offer’: Community members’ perspectives on #autism research” doi.org/10.1177/136236132412…

Pleased to share a new preprint reporting community involvement in autism research. In Jan 2021, @journalautism introduced mandatory reporting of community involvement. Our team of autistic and non-autistic researchers evaluated the impact of this policy. osf.io/g89w4

I was dx'd too long ago to qualify for this study on #latediagnosis and #mentalhealth clinicians, but a worthwhile study for those who meet the criteria & are interested in it. In the twitter thread it's confirmed there are two #ActuallyAutistic people on the project's team.

I wish it wasn't but this thread by @DrMBotha is too true, and too common a misconception of #actuallyautistic experience, not to share.
Every so often I think I should use #linkedin more then I go on there for like 2 mins & instantly get multiple predatory DMs asking me to sign up the little start up I work for to buying $5k of signage or wellness programs or asking me to apply for jobs unrelated to my expertise

How can autistic adults thrive? This should be one of the questions at the heart of autism research. Excited to have examined it with an amazing team of autistic and non-autistic co-authors. You can read it here (should be free to access): rdcu.be/cUZkz

Only one week left for our survey. We would love to hear from more autistic young people in Australia about what research should focus on. Please RT!
Very excited to be interviewing @billshortenmp next week about the #NDIS. If you could ask him one question, what would it be? Here is my last interview for context: youtube.com/watch?v=YohKWJP4… @criprights @EveryAustralian @Adv4Inclusion @PWDAustralia @SummerFoundtn @kurtfearnley
I'm Tori, the others would like me if I was better at sport
RT @NLRThornton - #autismresearch study on #Autistic adults attitudes towards recreational drugs including their potential for use as clinical treatments for #mentalhealth conditions. Only a short survey but an important area. Caregivers can also complete the survey (1/2)

Note: this is not connected with Macquarie Uni or any other org I'm associated with. I just went to high school with one of the investigators a long time ago & saw them sharing it. (2/2)

Anyone know of any charities/orgs in Brisbane who might be able to help a single mother who had all her kid's toys stolen?

and a bunch of other household stuff - but it's her kids things she's most concerned about
