Isn’t it telling how so many wealthy people don’t like the fact that another wealthy person is wealthier than them and nobody should ever be wealthy other than them 🤷‍♂️

That’s why the big trade bodies are behind it - they do t care about the small pub businesses just their paymasters who yet again will reap the benefits……
The hospitality industry wants their VAT cut to 10%. It will cost £12bn Who benefits? ❌ The smallest most vulnerable businesses? Nope. 45% get nothing. ❌ Consumers? Nope - prices won't fall. ✅ Nearly half the cash goes straight to large chains. McDonald's gets £400m. 🧵:

Independent pubs: we are unfairly represented at government level and need a voice 🍺
Burnham: Pubs and farmers are taxed unfairly telegraph.co.uk/politics/202…

What’s equally as hard is those tied pub tenants vociferously supporting them, when they are laughing at them behind their backs as they stick the knife in….. Never mind VaT we need a CMA review of the sector particularly the beer tie
In 25 years in #hospitality I’ve never been so conflicted - we all want the end goal of a VAT cut but to continue to support the trade bodies that have inflicted so much damage on the sector in support of their paymasters is hard 🤦‍♂️😞 #VATInlineWithEurope

The minister for not answering the bloody question

I thought he’d dropped the comedy stuff?
If Labour is going to spend the next few months arguing about who should be PM, they should at least agree on one thing: these damaging red lines on Europe have to go. A customs union is vital to grow our economy and to tackle the cost-of-living crisis.

Dear god and people listen to him 🤦‍♂️
He doesn't understand the fundamentals of taxation.

We really need MPs from all parties to have the back bone to answer a question and not keep trotting out spin and the party line which does nothing to deal with the challenges. #HospitalityUnderPressure #PubsAreNotCashCows #StopTaxingTheLocal #FairRulesForPubs

'That doesn't feel like a government that's got the backs of the working people.' @TomSwarbrick1 challenges Labour's Kate Dearden on the 'shambolic' business rates affecting hospitality.

One day wouldn’t it be lovely if an MP, the government or even our trade bodies just told the truth. No spin, no story just laid it out there. #AnotherPolicyAnotherTax #FairRulesForPubs #PubsAreCommunities #StopTaxingTheLocal #ThePubDidntDoIt #PolicyBySpreadsheet

Hello. Which bit of this did you help deliver. Be honest when you make these kind of statements. No government “helped”. They imposed with no real understanding of the consequences - good and bad #hospitalityunderpressure
Today, 2.7 million workers are getting a pay rise. Increases to the National Minimum and Living Wages mean full-time workers could earn up to £1,500 more this year. As Minister for Employment Rights, I’m proud to help deliver this ➡️ boosting pay and helping with living costs

It absolutely does highlight the absurdity of these so called entrepreneurs who have no social understanding as @Sacha_Lord points out #PubsAreCommunities #HospitalityUnderPressure #FairRulesForPubs
Read this...it'll make your blood boil. One of the Governments senior Advisers finally admits: "We don't need anymore restaurants. I'm not anti-hospitality but that's not where my efforts are." They are no longer hiding it from us. insidermedia.com/news/north-…

Even the Bank of England call out the rise in minimum wage as a contributing factor. We all agree good pay rates are important, but not when the consequences outweigh the benefit. #PolicyBySpreadsheet
It’s depressing to read a headline like this. As a sector we’ve always been a first job opportunity for so many helping build vital social skills. It pains us to see the impact of poorly planned policies. #AnotherPolicyAnotherTax #FairRulesForPubs #HospitalityUnderPressure

Permanent VAT reform is where any government should start in unravelling the problems they have built up in hospitality. #CUTVAT #FairRulesForPubs #HospitalityUnderPressure
VAT is pushing trade away from pubs and into the off-trade. That’s a policy choice — and it can be changed. #CUTVAT #HospitalityCrisis #PubsAreCommunities
