Automattic did so much good for the open source community for ~20 years.
And yet, claiming it is defending open source ethics (of giving back) it committed blatant theft: stealing 13 years’ work and userbase of another team.
Absolutely unethical.
I no longer trust Automattic.

So this is the future of WordPress. Automattic - the entity controlling Wordpress .org and the WP trademark - can take over *any* plugin that it wants, when they want, and how they want.
Automattic is burning the principles of open source for their own profit.
A sad, new era.

While technologies may not disappear completely when you do this it’s easy to fall into the trap of limiting yourself and deny opportunities to grow because you think you can’t do anything different because you’re <insert tech> developer. Which I unknowingly did for many years.
