The Kharkiv institute of Plant Studies was founded in 1908, and this 1911 historical landmark in Ukrainian neo-baroque style is hiding in a vast experimental park. In 2022, the valuable Genetic Bank of Plants on the territory of the institute was bombed by the russian 👇

military. It was a great tragedy, as bank of plants contains seeds of rare and dying plants. It was the 10th largest collection of seeds in the world, valuable for the preservation of biodiversity. The remains of the collection were evacuated. I’ll add the story in the comment.
