The opening of Ken Russell's The Music Lovers (1971), filmed on the Bray Studios backlot, always makes me think of Hammer's Rasputin, the Mad Monk (1966), with its frosty, wintry Russian sets built on the same spot.
Speaking of Vlad Tepish, Ken Russell was also earmarked to direct Hammer's abandoned Vlad the Impaler in the 1970s too.
While Russell never did work for Hammer, he did shoot his film The Music Lovers at Hammer's former Bray Studios.
