Christian Pulisic has kicked off the FIFA World Cup with a stellar display in Southern California. Here’s what he had to say today in the mixed zone:

numbers from current Opta profile .. Balogun ranks the 87th percentile for goals, touches in the box, while also sitting in the 79th percentile for shots. He is consistently getting into the areas where centre-forwards are judged.
"As the World Cup approaches on home soil, Folarin Balogun does not just offer potential. He offers a defined attacking identity. He is not just a striker who scores. He is a striker who constantly asks defenders uncomfortable questions." @Declan3013: breakingthelines.com/player-…

Folarin Balogun has already proven his worth in the Copa América, but now, can he do it in the World Cup? Without a doubt, one of the most important players for this US Men’s National Team alongside Chris Richards, Tyler Adams, and Christian Pulisic.

Very good USA vs Paraguay preview:
The wait is over: after 32 years, the US Men's National Team will finally play a World Cup match on home soil. Can the USMNT open the tournament with a win? Or will Paraguay spoil the party in Inglewood? @safouratarzaban: breakingthelines.com/world-c…

"If there were a region that seems like it would embody the hostile attitude of the political sphere right now, it would be the American South. However, the answer was sheer enjoyment and an embrace of cultures in both directions." @candlerneuro: breakingthelines.com/world-c…

As much as I’d have loved to see Esmir Bajraktarević play for the USMNT, representing Bosnia was the only option. And after eliminating Italy from World Cup qualification, he’s finally going to get his chance to make his mark on the world’s biggest stage.

Wrote about my time at one of the most unlikeliest sporting mashups of 2026, Lionel Messi and Argentina coming to Auburn, and how wholesome of an experience it was to see SEC football culture mix with people unfamiliar with the region!

As Americans, we cannot control which people our government decides to let in. What we can control is how we treat the millions of people who are visiting from all around the world. Let’s hope this World Cup serves as an opportunity to heal fractions, rather than divide.
