As a kid we had the 1978 Lord of the Rings calendar around for years after it was done. There wasnβt much art in my house but this collection painted by the Hildebrandt brothers was an incalculable inspiration to me. RIP Greg Hildebrandt.

The wonderful American artist and his twin brother Tim have produced a wealth of magnificent illustrations for sci-fi and fantasy. Including the classic variant of the Tom Jung Star Wars (1977) poster art.
He was 85.
