Jesus not only bore our sins on the cross, He carried them away an infinite distance. He removed them from the presence of God and from us forever. They can no longer bar our access to God's holy presence. Now "we have confidence" to enter God's presence (Hebrews 10:19).

The realization that faith is the gift of God–not the result of the persuasion of the evangelist–should encourage us to pray with confidence. It means that no one, however hardened he or she may be, is beyond the regenerating, life-creating work of the Holy Spirit.

We actually cannot give God anything that He has not first given to us. […] Even our service to God comes from His hand. As the prophet Isaiah said, "LORD, all that we have accomplished you have done for us" (Isaiah 26:12).

Because Christ completely satisfied the justice of God, we can now experience the grace of God.

The great antidote to anxiety is to come to God in prayer about everything. Nothing’s too big for Him to handle or too small to escape His attention.

In every area where we see failure and sin, Jesus was successful at providing a perfect obedience that’s credited to us.

“Thou art coming to a King, large petitions with thee bring; for His grace and pow’r are such none can ever ask too much.” How many Christians really believe those words? How many really believe His grace and power are such that we can never ask too much?

Whatever the situation a simple "Lord, help me" focuses our dependence upon God instead of our own willpower and brings the Spirit's aid to us.

When our sense of guilt is taken away because our consciences are cleansed by the blood of Christ, we're freed up to love Him with all our hearts and souls and minds…Our love will be spontaneous in an outpouring of gratitude to Him and fervent desire to obey Him.

The only way we can avoid conformity to the values of this world is consistent exposure to the Word of God.

The Spirit uses His Word to create joy in our hearts. Romans 15:4 speaks of the endurance and encouragement that come from the Scriptures; the next verse says that God gives endurance and encouragement. God is the Source; the Scriptures are the means.

Joy is a fruit of the Spirit, the effect of His ministry in our hearts. It's by the power of the Holy Spirit that we experience the joy of salvation and are enabled to rejoice even in the midst of trials.

We see that the cup is a metaphorical expression referring to the judgment of God as expressed in the pouring out of His wrath on sinful nations and people. What was in the cup Jesus drank at His crucifixion? It was the wrath of God.
