Regarding the AUR malware stuff, none of these new attacks appear to be doing anything new, they're just exploiting the exact same hole in the AUR's security.
New signups have been closed but we don't know how many sleeper accounts exist

There have been some packages updated by 2 year old accounts, this is either a long game of they've also compromised some accounts

For the headlines I think Valve is going to try to get as close to $1,000 as possible with Machine, maybe we'll see a version with basically no storage around that price. But if we're talking about any reasonable storage probably closer to $1,300 maybe even $1,500 at this point.

Around 400 AUR packages compromised taken over and include NPM post install hooks.

There are about 15k orphaned packages on the AUR which someone could very easily spin up a script to compromise in a matter of minutes. Thankfully because they're orphaned very few people are using them but this is still a problem that probably needs to be addressed.
