My grandmother is 91 years old.
I was finishing some late night work at 2:00am and she got up for a mid-night snack.
We started talking... Lots of stories of the old days when a gallon of milk was $1, a movie ticket was 15 cents, and life was so different. Stories of her mom riding in wagons into town and the Depression.
She wanted to know lots about my work in
#Bitcoin, I tried to explain. Show her some of my articles/videos and explain what "Twitter" is. 🤣
Funny enough (to my surprise) she had lots of questions about the "intelligences" and "artificial intelligences" and she brought up Henry Ford. She never owned a computer or cell phone so funny to me she understands "the intelligences are a big deal" as she put it.
When she first heard of computers decades ago she never got one despite thinking it was a big deal. Now it's so funny to hear her talking about the "bitcoins" and "intelligences" like that.
Funny enough... I think her living through the early computer and internet days helps her see why social media, AI, and
#Bitcoin are big deals even though she doesn't know anything about them. She's more open minded to it all than many 30 year-old tech guys I know.
She doesn't understand
#Bitcoin of course (which is no problem at all, I don't bring it up) but whenever I visit she's proud of me and tells me to keep going.
Through all that technological change her advice of working hard, dressing well, and treating others best one can still rings true...
Suppose am sharing to say just because a loved one doesn't understand
#Bitcoin or modern tech (and has no desire to) doesn't mean they can't try to understand why you care about it.
Also goes to show that wisdom and open mindedness often goes farther in understanding than technical knowledge.
Life is so special. 🙂
