Simply shocking. As I posted last week, deep rooted biases as seen in the texts impact every decision an investigator makes. They undermine the very constitutional safeguards that exist to protect the accused. Those protections completely collapse in the face of flagrant biases that undermine both the due process and sixth amendment rights of those accused of crimes.

Excellent thread about both why strangulation is an extremely serious form of domestic violence, and also why it can be very difficult to prove forensically. I don't know if Cooper did it or not but if the accuser says he did, her testimony is enough evidence to support a charge.

๐งต 1/5 Update on the Jonathon Cooper case: what started as a misdemeanor criminal mischief charge after a June 4 domestic incident has now escalated. Court records show Cooper faces an additional felony charge of second-degree assault by strangulation, plus a misdemeanor third-degree assault charge. He has pleaded not guilty to the original charge and the case is pending.
As someone who spent years investigating DV and homicide cases, I want to walk through why a case can escalate like this days later โ and what it teaches us about strangulation evidence in general.

With the criminal charges behind her, itโs time to shift focus to the family court case to reunite Kelsey with her baby.
Kelsey has the following court dates, all scheduled in Salem:
๐4/14/26: Hearing on the 209A restraining order
๐4/23/26: Motion For Further Temporary Orders
๐5/1/26: Pretrial Conference
The 4/14 hearing will be the first time Kelsey has an opportunity to address the ex parte allegations in the original affidavit filed by JA on June 30th. My understanding is that @BradlLawPC is handling that case.
Here is a copy of the motion for further Temporary Orders filed by Attorney Hess which is now scheduled for 4/23:
