There's lies, damn lies, and DTE press releases about power restoration. Props to the field crews who are likely just running after the results of corporate incompetence themselves. Take a pause DTE, then tell us about the rate hikes that are needed to maintain the MI grid.

As of 7 a.m. Monday morning, DTE field crews have restored power to more than 600,000 of the 630,000 customers impacted by the recent ice storm.

To its dubious credit @DTE_Energy seems to have given up giving dates for estimated power restoration, instead opting to go with the entirely noncommittal "We apologize that we were not able to restore your power at <address> by the estimate provided. Weβll send an update soon."

@DTE_Energy I donβt mind longer restoration times nearly as much as feeding them to customers day by day, causing them to stay put vs. βItβll be 4-5 daysβ so one can go to a hotel, board pets and generally make risk-based decisions. This is terrible. Check your DMs.

...which you can and should 100% avail yourself BEFORE the threats becomes real and the disasters need recovering from. Your customers are part of your threat model, impact-wise. While you can't loop them in on what they don't control, you can definitely offer information.

Hey @DTE_Energy I know y'all are busy around here with this #poweroutage, but this is crap wouldn't you agree? I'm not in the country, the sticks or the boonies. We're now on track to do worse than the summer 2021 outage which lasted 3.5 days, the opposite of doing better.
