AI is one of the most important issues facing Texans, and we brought the conversation to the Texas GOP Convention with our panel: AI — Prosperity, Power Grab, or Peril? Joined by Texas Senator Angela Paxton and leaders from the Future of Life Institute, Humans in Control, Young People's Alliance, American Shield, and Humans First, over 600 Texans came together as we broke down the biggest AI threats facing our communities: • AI-related job displacement • Data center resources • Child safety & consumer security • National security The future of AI in Texas should be left to Texans, not Big Tech.

The AI companies know that they are unpopular and people are concerned about concentration of wealth and power in Big Tech. It would be smart for them make sure the American people benefit from the profits they are amassing. Either way, we will not have a stable society if massive amounts of wealth are created and then concentrated in the hands of a small, technocratic elite that looks very much like an oligarchy. There are a number of ways to do this, but I am glad that the AI companies are starting to think about how they are going to make sure that all Americans are invested in the future economic growth of AI.

Replying to @HawleyMO
@HawleyMO introduced the AI Risk Evaluation Act back in September 2025. Eight months later, Washington is finally waking up to the case for national security testing of powerful AI. He saw it first. He led first. The OG on this fight.

Our highest and most urgent national priority should be AI safeguards. The risks of AI weapons, pathogens, mass unemployment, surveillance, and even extinction must not continue to be largely ignored.

“Brendan Steinhauser, CEO of the Alliance for Secure AI, a nonprofit that promotes safeguards for AI, praised the bill’s bipartisan approach to addressing advanced AI risks but said it “falls short” by preempting state AI laws. He called for Congress to set a federal floor for AI regulation while allowing states to adopt stronger protections.” politico.com/news/2026/06/04…

Americans deserve AI that's tested, verified, and safe before it's deployed on the public. Today, we stood with a bipartisan group of allies to demand exactly that. Trump’s EO is a good first step — now Congress must establish clear accountability standards for frontier AI before deployment.
