Also works remote with either the SDR networking server or better with a QMX specific UDP server running on another Android phone.

NAT hole punching is needed to connect to a home server without IPv4 public address, however that requires a rendevouz server with public IPv4 address. If one does not want to run one's own public IPv4 server, there are not many options left (cont)

Cloudflare offers free workers good for NAT hole punching rendevouz server. They also offer free IPv4 to IPv6 http reverse proxy that may be used to route IPv4 to one's home IPv6 rendevouz server. Or use the http channel directly, however not optimal for real time SDR audio.

Running a home server accessible from internet is difficult. 90% European ISPs implement IPv6 such that a home IPv6 address is accessible from outside and the IPv6 prefix is stable over months. However many intranets such as corporate, government or schools only support IPv4.

I just created my first Linux server instance in the cloud, for 65 CZK ($3) per month including public IP address. How cool. Now Vodafone charges 175 CZK ($9) just for enabling public IP address on DSL.

Been there. The open source developer have various motives: Joy of doing the job, love for humanity, fame, self presentation such for future job application. A project kidnapped by a Chinese company may feel rewarding to the original author, but it may kill his motivation.

Bought it for HAM radio in the field, as a troubleshooting console, console for various measurement devices (nanovna...), for flashing firmware. Nowadays I spend 2 hours every working day in public transport and I don't want to lug a full size laptop / laptop bag.

The keyboard is surprisingly usable, but not for long texts. Keyboard layout is OK. The touch screen and trackpads are surprisingly good. It is not a replacement for full day productive laptop work, but may work as a portable desktop with external display, keyboard, mouse.
