Patron Launcher does not use: Github Actions, Vercel, Firebase, Supabase, Railway Its plain postgres docker on a VPS with bunch of python script for CI/CD. Only issue you need write or design that scripts. It takes a lot of time but teaches a lot.

Thats scary, so let me say it here: Patron Launcher is not suicidal, if someday we "announce" that we raise revenue share higher than 5 percent, know that im captured by "BigLauncher" mob and im rotting in a jail.
Replying to @Pirat_Nation
I swear this goes with everything.

We need more definitions than just "indie" and "AAA" to categorize budgets of the games. There is also "Solo" but not exactly corresponds to budget. Well, when I think it about it now, dev count might be better categorizing metric than budget, from a gamer perspective.
CUPHEAD????? DIDNT THE CREATORS LITERALLY REMORTGAGED THEIR HOUSES TO FUND HIS GAME????? NOT INDIE???? FUCK YOUUU OMGGGG 😭😭😭😭

Unless decryption faster than reading raw data. Which you can see on zstd level 1-3 very commonly. It basically moves work from disk to cpu to reduce disk bottleneck, without introducing cpu bottleneck.
The 4th dimension. And I’m not even kidding! πŸ›Έ Compression is a form of space-time trade off. The compressed data is encoded as a set of instructions on how to get the original data back. Following those instructions takes time, thus where the 8GB went.

[3] It will be free to patrons, but creators will be pay to use the platform. Im still undecided at pricing. But revenue share model with something like 2 or 3 percent would be cut it. I want to it serve maximum features with minimal pricing.

[2] Its not a sale platform or Merchant-of-record. But uses sale platforms api to give access to subscribers or one time buyers.

Patron Launcher distributes the product to is owners. It will support patreon for sure, probably itchio and gumrad too. Thats why its named patron launcher.

This photo has been posted so many times, and often sparks discussion about iterating towards an ideal solution, but I feel like the message for programmers hiding in plain sight here is that we should be throwing software away and rebuilding it from scratch more often

light units on popular renderers

I was referring to state-of-the-art renderers to see how are they handle light units, looks like there is no common choice when it comes the point lights, some uses lumen while others use candela or let user pick.

For directional lights, it seems like all of them use lux, which makes sense, you won't care about how much light emits to universe (lumen), or how much per 3d angle (candela) there is no angle, beams are parallel, the most sensible question "how bright is my front yard (lux)".
47
Also I think I find a mistake in unreals documentation about lumen, not sure where to report it...
