On behalf of my family, Im devastated to share that my brother Mark has passed away. I wrote his obituary today and would like to share it so family and friends who knew him or knew of him could share into their feeds if they wish. This picture truly represents how cool, smart and happy he could be. Also while the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs could use a technological upgrade and review, the people on the other end of all my calls were devoted servants to veterans and their families. Incredible people.
Obituary for Mark Reynolds
Mark Reynolds, born July 28, 1964, passed away on March 21, 2026 of a chronic autoimmune disease.
He was a man of rare depth, a true polymath whose curiosity knew no limits and whose intellect was matched only by his quiet, steady presence. He is survived by his mum Susan Reynolds, father Tim Reynolds, sisters, brother, nieces and nephews.
Though he often sought comfort in solitude, Mark’s life was anchored by family. He was a devoted son and a beloved brother, and uncle. Within the bonds of family he found acceptance, and connection that meant everything to him.
A proud veteran of the United States Navy, Mark served as Cryptologic Technician Maintenance Second Class Petty Officer and spent time stationed in Edzell, Scotland, a place that resonated deeply with his heritage and identity as a proud Scotsman. His service reflected his curiosity, discipline, intelligence, and commitment to something larger than himself.
In 2017, Mark was awarded an engineering patent for an ophthalmologic manufacturing process for contact lens production. A testament to the way his mind worked: always questioning, always building, always seeking to understand how things could be improved. Give him a single question, and he would pursue it relentlessly, spending days or even weeks researching, learning, and refining his understanding until he had mastered it.
Mark Reynolds lived a life not defined by his achievements or status, but by depth and devotion to the ones he loved. He leaves behind a legacy of intellect, curiosity, service, and quiet strength, qualities that will continue to live on in those who knew and loved him.
He will be buried on April 6th with full military honors at the Albert G Horton Memorial Veterans Cemetery in a private family service.
