People who need IT support from their children every Thanksgiving because they can't print anymore keep asking why Twitter won't just keep running with no employees.

And make sure you put your code screenshots into a Microsoft Word document because that’s the only program that 1137 haXX0r Elon knows how to use.

Ok since we’re posting memories in case Twitter crashes, my first Twitter experience was going to the C4 conference held by @rentzsch in 2007. Everyone there had there these fancy new iPhones and said they were all on Twitter and I was like “What the fuck is a Twitter?”

I believe @chockenberry showed off one of the first jailbreak versions of @Twitteriffic he’d written (this was before the iOS SDK) at that C4. I signed up for Twitter as soon as I got home, started following everyone I’d meet at the conference, and the rest is history.

People are starting to say Elon Musk isn't actually a real engineer. But he definitely said "I don't know why people think Twitter is so complicated. I could fix it in like a weekend." And then proceeded to fuck everything up. That's exactly like an engineer.

Lol: Twitter sent an HR email to every laid off employee acknowledging it's late getting people their separation agreements and release of claims. But the company messed up the BCC and it has become a reply-all catastrophe.
This whole Elon train wreck is giving me the same vibes as the start of Trump’s presidency. Can’t look away, lots of schadenfreude, combined with sinking realization that they won’t see any real consequences for being so destructive, and half the country thinks they’re awesome.

Well instead of getting work done today I got to drive to Best Buy to get a new cable modem because our current modem needs upgrading but Comcast never told us until the 5th time our internet dropped out and we finally got a tech out who could tell us instantly. So that's fun.

At times like these, I have learned to expect a spike in the number of people who try Micro.blog. I was unprepared for the huge interest in interoperability between M.b and Mastodon. Thanks to ActivityPub, you can follow Mastodon user from Micro.blog.

Giant baubles have bounced down the streets of London, disrupting traffic before causing a glittery explosion. High winds swept up the baubles that were part of an art installation by Tom Shannon, supposed to be on display in London's St Giles' Square until Friday.

Use this thread to tell everyone what feature, privilege, stunt, weird thing or inane virtual product Twitter could offer that would get you to pay $8 a month.
