So… turns out I almost walked right into a scam.
👇Let me share the story so nobody else gets trapped:
They hit you up on X (in my case, @MiiyuLabs was the scammer account) act super professional, ask for your resume, even set a call through a legit-looking Calendly link. A week of normal chatting, then comes the “meeting.”
2–3 people show up, talk smoothly about Web3 projects, investments, dashboards, all that. Looks real. Then suddenly:
“Our Chinese investor wants to join but Google Meet doesn’t work in China, let’s switch to another app…”
First it was some random tool I’d never heard of, then “ok, let’s use WeChat”, but instead of wechat.com the link was wechat.com.tr 🤦♂️
Classic phishing play. And here’s the kicker: if you download those apps, your internet drops and they get full access to your wallet, X, accounts, everything.
When I refused to move off Meet, they just ghosted the call. No goodbye, no nothing!
👉 Moral of the story:
If someone pressures you to switch to some unknown app mid-meeting, 99% it’s a scam. Stay sharp fam
