Happy #NationalBookLoversDay!
Today, I am thinking about all the librarians and teachers who put books into kids' hands.
Thank you for championing the life-changing power of stories, and for helping kids become readers. You're my heroes.
Do know know a fabulous teacher librarian who uses technology as a tool for learning and collaborates to promote the integration of technology into the curriculum?

School librarians are community builders, innovators, collaborators, and so much more - including one of the best resources a student can have as they navigate the school year: blog.ed.gov/2023/10/school-l…#NationalBookMonth

IL Sec of State @Giannoulias powerfully quoted Ray Bradbury at @UIC’s #BannedBooksWeek event:
“The problem in our country isn't with books being banned, but with people no longer reading. You don't have to burn books to destroy a culture. Just get people to stop reading them.”
Looking forward to heading to and learning at #AASL23 because school librarians continue to model what adaptability, agility, and innovation look like in library services!
Go @aasl!
We are pleased to present you with our #AASL23 Social Media Sub-Committee Crew. These amazing librarians are hard at work on the social media posts you see.
Wamecca, Carrie, Katie, Serena, Elizabeth (not pictured), and Nicola, thank you!

It's been a week since we heard from @caroljago at the #CSLAConference. In her keynote speech she encouraged our community to help students overcome barriers to reading, beginning with getting our students to read for the sake of reading, to read for fun! #4csla#SchoolLibraries
Next year I have a goal of engaging more reluctant readers, focusing on the freshmen class. I have some ideas and one is working this year to create engaging First Page Fridays. Suggestions for good YA books that have engaging first few pages, like this one?
