• Based off how it's doing so far, it 'Seems like a sequel should be made'

👇 important distinction between “published” and “developed”. I’m not going to get too alarmist about this just yet. First Light has reviewed brilliantly and selling very well so I’d have thought it’d be no-brainer on Amazon’s part to let them keep cooking
Key word here is 'published'. Seen some misinterpreting this and suggesting it means IO will be entirely locked out of Bond going forward: all it means is IO can't self-publish a theoretical First Light 2 and would have to do a deal that sees IO developing and Amazon publishing

On the subject of Bond game sales, I’ve always considered it a shame that From Russia With Love (2005) didn’t sell well (numbers vary by source but under a million units for sure). I played it through again last year and it holds up really well plus had Connery back voicing Bond

The last time a new Bond game was on consoles was 007 Legends in 2012 which didn't even come close to a million sales in its entire run*. Love seeing First Light doing so well and fingers crossed for a sequel!

Worth noting that 007 Legends had the benefit of tying into the film series 50th Anniversary, it was released around the time of Skyfall, it had the likeness of the then-current & established cinematic Bond so it had a serious leg-up in the promo department but still flopped 2/3

First Light had an uphill battle getting people on board with a new Bond after a serious hiatus, 5 years after the last Bond movie, 14 years after Bond was last on consoles but they made a terrific game and people are turning up for it. 1.5 mil in the first day is fantastic 3/3

The restraint the marketing people had for not showing much of the last third or so of First Light is incredible. There were a couple of bits in the last level especially that are some of the most fun I’ve ever had in a Bond game

This is why I can’t get too worried about James Bond going public domain in a few years. Everyone acting like the IP will be suddenly worthless when all that happens is a cash-in slasher called “The Man With the Golden Chainsaw” goes direct to streaming

Disney spending a zillion dollars fighting the public domain and then realizing all that will happen is, like, two Mickey Mouse slasher movies nobody will ever see and then everyone loses interest
