This quote by Steve Kerr pretty much sums up why we (@bebetterleaders) do what we do in the sports world. When you unlock leaders, they get to have maximum impact on those they lead.

SUPER FACTS. Currently reading Atomic Habits.
Habits are what we can control. And the more we repeat the right habits, the better chance we have of repeating the right outcomes. Less focus on outcomes, more focus on habits. This is the process of growth.

Being secure in who you are frees you up to fully commit to your craft without feeling the pressure of the outcome. You don’t fear failure because you know it doesn’t define you. Competitive joy.

Three places high performers leak energy: Past. Future. Noise. We replay failures we can't change. We fear outcomes we can't control. We worry about what others are doing/thinking. The best aren't always present. They're just the fastest to come back. Own what's now.

He Lost. He Cried. He Never Lost Again. Floyd Mayweather Jr. And The 1996 Olympics. After losing a controversial decision to Bulgarian boxer Serafim Todorov in the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, a 19-year-old Floyd Mayweather Jr. was overcome with emotion during a post-fight interview and began to cry, saying he believed he had won the fight. The loss was widely disputed, the crowd booed the decision, and even the referee briefly raised Mayweather’s hand by mistake. Mayweather later said that moment fueled his drive, and he went on to become one of the greatest boxers in history, finishing his professional career undefeated at 50-0.
