There was missed oppurtunity in ep4 on how her role there relates to caine. She set up an adventure, and is trying to force everyone to enjoy it and is putting jax in the torture room for not going along with it. Absence of Caine in that episode leaves that dynamic underexplored.

My theory is kris ate the pie to throw us off. That way we wouldnt be suspicious about what they were up to. It gives us an easy answer to distract us.

The whole "Kris just ate the pie in ch1 and that's it" is still prevalent despite the fact that them plugging the TV, knowing the prophecy and working for the knight blatantly shows that they were planning the ch3 dark world
