A huge congratulations to Carbonaught for taking out the Accenture Australia Innovation Award at the 2024 Lord Mayor’s Business Awards! The Carbonaught Protocol rewards farmers for low-emission crops, using basalt instead of synthetic fertilisers. to.antler.co/48ngev1

💪 The indefatigable Juliet Kirby has produced a report on the current state of Carbon Dioxide Removals (CDR) in Australia featuring @Carbonaught. 💡 In it you will see referenced for the first time in print, our proposal for sensible reform around #ACCU generation that delivers wins to government, suppliers, corporates and the environment. 🥊 Also, the first hint of my growing resistance to a pernicious dynamic: "Finally, for all those who are quick to accuse companies of greenwashing. Please know that you are doing significant damage to those of us trying to solve the problem. If you could grab a pipe and crepe, hit the pause button for a couple of years it would be greatly appreciated." 📈 Dive into the report to understand how Australia can leverage its strengths to address the challenges ahead: gentoo.earth/download-report

🗺 @carbonaught is on the map 🗺 Great to see Brisbane spotlighted in Monocle’s Opportunity Special, showcasing how we're impacting agriculture with basalt-based carbon-removal fertilisers. Thank you to everyone supporting us as we drive meaningful change for farmers and our planet. #CarbonRemoval #Agriculture #Innovation #ClimateAction #Carbonaught

Last week our SA AgriTech meetup explored the technology synergies between mining and agriculture, through a collaboration with CORE Innovation Hub. What did we learn at the Meetup? - Both industries seek solutions for large scale biodiversity regeneration projects, requiring technology and practices that transfer from mining to agriculture as shared by Glenn Christie from Succession Ecology Pty Ltd. - Crushed Basalt rock can be used as an agricultural fertiliser when exposed to water and Co2, that enables a chemical reaction to sequester carbon and deliver nutrients to crops, as shared by Binoy Sarkar and Andrew Pedley from Carbonaught Pty Ltd. - Measuring contaminated soils in the oil and gas sector has enabled Ziltek to develop hardware that can now be recalibrated to measure soil health markers and provide real time analysis to farmers and agronomists, as shared by Sean Manning. Following the presentations were demonstrations of the technologies, with lots of great discussion and networking with many first time meetup attendees connecting with our community. Thanks to Renee Hakendorf, Simon Hareb Julia Miller and Libby McMichael for being amazing hosts for us at CORE Innovation Hub.

We reckon Queensland's Bowen Basin, with its mix of heavy industry and productive agriculture will become a global nerve centre for scaled, low-emission agriculture. If you're curious about that type of thing, then plug yourself in for my first proper interview here: lnkd.in/gX_2WBQB

This is how simple low-emission agriculture (operationally) is. The science under the hood is a bit less so. Let's ignore that for now and focus on beautiful #Bundaberg.
