i’ve said it before and i’ll say it again: when people have their needs met, there really is no use for crime and this man is proving that
New York City just had its safest first 5 months of a year in recorded history. Murders plunged 21%, and major crime overall is down 11%.

I have a suggestion
We’re disappointed to see that average bus speeds have fallen again and are now at their slowest since modern records began @TfL has a programme of measures to improve speeds safely. We need to see these making a difference for the millions of Londoners who depend on buses #Bus

No particular reason, although there are plenty to choose from. Just bad vibes, and having rancid vibes is the most British thing a person can do. Let him in.

This is not what Paddington died for :(
Buckingham Palace was made aware of emails allegedly showing that Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor shared confidential information with a business contact six years ago, according to court documents. 🔗: telegraph.co.uk/royal-family…

This is the most important graphic to understand why it causes more harm than good. Directly from Cancer Research UK.

Countries that have unduly good PR: Scotland - MORE involved in the empire than the English Austria - "the first victims of the Nazis" Indonesia - some of the most brutal genocides in modern history, zero atonement Canada - super racist past even relative to other countries

This is my favourite conspiracy because it would be so easy for these people to literally just buy a thermometer and check the temperature themselves, but they absolutely refuse to.
Replying to @MishimaFudanshi
Does Mexico city put their temperature probs in hot urban areas with no trees for miles to give false readings. Probably not

The entire UK is at the same latitude as Hudson Bay. I live in the south now but even down here last 'night' didn't actually have any night in it and won't until late July.
feel like those ppl just dont get how high up europe is in terms of latitude. like yeah 30 degrees feels different when the sun is up for 16 hours

This is the reason it seems like you can see more stars at night when you travel abroad (ie south). In the middle of the year, when skies tend to be clearest in the UK, the sun only just dips behind the horizon. It's too bright to see most of the night sky.

The farthest north town in England doesn't even fully get into astronomical twilight. Scotland is even brighter. We forget how far north we are.

[extremely bad man voice] Hell yeah! Let's steer teenagers into using VPNs en masse and learning to skirt what few online protections actually exist already!!!
EXCL: Sir Keir Starmer is expected to ban social media for under 16s. A government consultation on curbs ends on Tuesday & no final decision will be taken until after that. But I understand No10 policy chiefs have privately said they expect a total ban thesun.co.uk/news/39197313/k…

Those aren't two 'senior green party figures'. They're holdovers of the more liberal approach to Green politics that was roundly rejected when Zack was overwhelmingly elected by the membership.
🟢 EXCL: Senior Green Party figures have urged Zack Polanski to consider stepping aside for Andy Burnham in the Makerfield by-election if the Greater Manchester mayor commits to introducing proportional representation Green councillors, activists and former party leaders have signed a joint statement warning that the party should approach the contest with “trepidation” The letter, whose signatories include Jonathan Bartley, who led the party between 2016 and 2018, and Rupert Read, a former Green councillor and author, says that Burnham’s election presents a “unique opportunity” to secure reform “In all reality this is not a seat Greens can win. It will be a straight fight between Labour and Reform. But it’s no ordinary by-election. Labour’s candidate, Andy Burnham, is looking to return to Westminster to lead in parliament.” “If Burnham will commit to backing proportional representation for the next general Labour election manifesto so that it is in place by the election after next, then on this unique occasion we don’t think Greens should run a full campaign against him,” the letter says Full read in @thetimes 👇 thetimes.com/article/16d6ba6…
