reading koalisi seni's report/study on copyright in relation to written works (literature). the first chapter is well-researched nuanced; then it nosedives, repeating industry talking points and cites indonesian undergrad studies of... dubious quality

chapter 3 (or chapter C i guess) is also barren of any citations. it reads as opinions that weren't discussed in prior chapters. it's like a completely different person dealt with sections 3.1-3.3 esp when you realize the writing style uses more english loanwords than other chaps

defending marginalized people by saying "they have done more for society than bigots" implies: 1. it's okay to be bigoted if you have contributed more to society 2. marginalized people's existence is as legitimate as their ability to "be productive"

3. you're misreading bigotry/discrimination as an arms race for "contribution." homophobes do not care is a gay man has a phd, you are, however, indirectly scrutinizing the existence of other gay men without phds (and any queer people who are not conventionally successful)

unlearn the idea that marginalized people can only exist if they "contribute to society." learn to attack the bigotry in the statements instead of bringing irrelevant topics into the discourse
